miCHAEL b Fahrenheit 451!
As if Michael B Jordan isn't hot enough, he's only gone and got himself a lead role in the HBO adaptation of Farenheit 451!
Now you may not be able to contain yourself at the sight of him in a fireman's uniform, but calm down because the story is a lot deeper than fantasizing about being rescued from a burning building. In these times of fake news and tyranny packaged as democracy and racism rebranded as free speech, Farenheit 451 couldn't be more apt. Fast forward to the future – the human race is screwed if we believe half the books written about it! - and firemen no longer put out fires, they start them, or more specifically, they start them with books, all books, especially ones that contain troublesome things like facts, because let's face it, facts just don't tell the story despots want?!! Anyway, in true dystopian trope style, the hero, doesn't start out as the hero but as one of the cogs of oppression, but slowly and possibly by chance the wool is pulled from their eyes as they realize that everything around them is a constructed lie to keep the masses in their place! |
Sound familiar? Ah well, just enjoy this re-telling of a classic, that doesn't involve the enslavement and degradation of women as its central theme – sorry handmaids tale, you're flying a little too close to our possible not too distant future and I'm scared!!

BulletProof
Real life best friends and our favourite onscreen 'badboyz' Noel Clarke (Kidulthood) and Ashley Walters (So Solid Crew, Top Boy) have teamed up for Sky One's upcoming buddy cop series 'Bulletproof'.
In typical buddy cop fashion, we have good cop – Walters and bad cop - Clarke, working together to solve crime. However it seems that the series will focus more on their relationship, their struggles with manhood and addressing their pasts. What should be a typical paint by number crime series, has the potential to explore some difficult issues, such as fatherhood, masculinity and expectations all with Clarke's quick witted and sometimes savage humour. Bullet proof is due to premiere this May and with longtime friends Clarke and Walters back together the chemistry is sure to be off the charts. |
