HBO Developing Asimov's Foundation Series...

Jonathan Nolan, of Interstellar and The Dark Knight has been secretly developing Asimov's epic 'Foundation' novels for a TV adaptation on HBO!

Now it's been a long time since I read these books, perhaps as much as 15years ago! But what has remained is the memory of a fantastically intriguing story which was hard to put down! The character named “The Mule” remains one of my favourite to date, weaved throughout the Foundation universe, an ever present threat and yet so unassuming, blink and you’ll miss them!! By the end I had no choice, I was compelled to find the second and third parts immediately!!

There is an anxious voice inside of me though that worries “how will they do it justice on screen?” The sceptic in me thinks it can’t be done, how to accurately depict the vastness of a galactic roman  empire? Who will play the enigmatic Hari Seldon? So many questions!!! However I was somewhat relieved to learn that Jonathan Nolan of Interstellar and Dark knight is developing it - other than David Lynch, responsible for Frank Herbert’s Dune, I can’t think of anyone else who I think would do it justice!

Anyway, while we await its arrival on HBO I decided to reacquaint myself with the Trilogy. I’ve just downloaded all three again - (my excitement to re-read them is an indicator of their brilliance!). For those of you who've never read them I’ve borrowed a non-spoiler synopsis of all three, courtesy of

"A THOUSAND-YEAR EPIC, A GALACTIC STRUGGLE, A MONUMENTAL WORK IN THE ANNALS OF SCIENCE FICTION

FOUNDATION begins a new chapter in the story of man's future. As the Old Empire crumbles into barbarism throughout the million worlds of the galaxy, Hari Seldon and his band of psychologists must create a new entity, the Foundation-dedicated to art, science, and technology-as the beginning of a new empire.

FOUNDATION AND EMPIRE describes the mighty struggle for power amid the chaos of the stars in which man stands at the threshold of a new enlightened life which could easily be destroyed by the old forces of barbarism.

SECOND FOUNDATION follows the Seldon Plan after the First Empire's defeat and describes its greatest threat-a dangerous mutant strain gone wild, which produces a mind capable of bending men's wills, directing their thoughts, reshaping their desires, and destroying the universe."

Awkward Black Girl's Issae Rae developing TV series...

Congratulations to Issae Rae - Rae’s been working with “Nightly Show” host Larry Wilmore since 2013 to develop and co-write “Insecure” - a HBO adaptation for TV.

If you haven't had the pleasure of watching Issae Rae's brilliant youtube series 'Awkward Black Girl' I urge you to find it now, you won't be disappointed!

Each episode is only around 10mins long, but in that time the trials and tribulations of the protagonist 'J' will have you laughing and cringeing in equal measure! What I love about this series are the observations, not only is she awkward, but gloriously cynical - something I can thoroughly relate to!

Next series of ATTACK ON TITAN...

It’s official, there will be NO second season of Attack on Titan until 2016…

I can’t say I’m surprised.. the first season covered more than half of the Manga that was published, I guess they need time to write more of the Manga so that there’s actually some material for season 2!!

In the meantime, if you can’t go cold turkey for that long, the live action film will be released in 2015 and of course the Manga continues...
