BARTKIRA
Stop EVERYTHING!! BARTKIRA may just be the best thing you've ever seen on the internet... ok, ok, so a monkey riding a pig was pretty special but trust me BARTKIRA is going to provide you with much more than merely minutes of satisfaction!!!
Created by utter nut jobs, aka brilliant geniuses!! Bartkira has taken a life of its own and is produced by eager fans from all over the world. Love the Simpsons? Love Manga? Love Akira? Then you will love Bartkira - can you guess what it’s about yet? Lol, well it’s a blending of Simpsons’ character’s with the Akira Manga, making a bizarre hybrid that shouldn’t be funny, but is because the Simpsons’ are in it!! Check out the tumblr and the website |

An Interview with 'Lee Scratch' Perry - 'Vision of Paradise'
“You don’t really interview Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry – it’s… an encounter.” says Krishnan Guru Murphy, who interviewed Perry for Channel 4 News as part of his promotion of 'Vision of Paradise’ - a documentary of his life.
The director, Volker Schaner, followed Lee Perry for 15 years and tells the story of eccentric Lee 'Scratch' Perry, the self proclaimed inventor of Dub and Reggae. Perry is humorous and larger than life as he tells of his famous ‘Black Ark Studio’ and an how he was ripped off by a famous Reggae icon! 'Vision of Paradise' is a magical story of one man and his belief that music can change the world! |

Ninjamaicanmecrazy!! - NinJamaica, the Animation
I’m not sure what I make of this but I’m putting it out there anyway. It’s rare to see cartoon featuring a positive Black male lead and even rarer for him to be Jamaican, but there are few things that irk me and I wondered who this cartoon is aimed at?
The stereotyped portrayal of Jamaicans and Island life is just plain boring, why not throw a Bob Marley poster in there too and be done with it!! It also makes me uncomfortable with the use of the word ‘bumbaclot’… this is a word that my Granny wouldn’t like to hear me saying and it feels very out of place in this cartoon. I mean who is it aimed at? If it’s an adult audience then the themes, animation style and language seem juvenile, if it’s children then the use of the word ‘bumbaclot’ is in my opinion not appropriate! Any way you can catch some of the episodes on YouTube and see for yourself. |
