Amandla Stenberg set to star in a Movie inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement

"From days of long ago, from uncharted regions of the universe, comes a legend."

Picture
Actress, activist and all round loveable cool chic Amandla Stenberg is set to star in a movie based on the Black Lives Matter movement.

'The Hate You Give' is a novel by Angela Thomas and follows a girl named 'Star' who's life traverses two worlds, that of the inner city neighbourhood she was raised in and the up town suburban school she attends. Her world is turned upside down when she is the only witness to the police shooting of her friend 'Khali'.

The Book will be released in the Spring 2017, with a second in 2018. Amandla Stenberg is set to play 'Star' in the movie which is being adapted for our screens by Audrey Wells. There's no release date yet, but I will keep you posted.

'Skank' - The Worlds Most Dangerous Comic

Think of VIZ, but with Black characters and you still won't be close to what 'Skank' comic was about. Marking the 20 year anniversary of its untimely demise - rumour has it the company folded following a lawsuit from Linford Christie - A book is set to be released which will chronicle its rise and fall with much of the original satirical comic flair that made it popular in the 90's.

When it was in its heyday, the comic would sell out within days of issue and featured such characters as Scotland Yardie, Pastor Blunt and White Galfriend and threatened to destroy the new world order with the likes of Mary Mampy (She Wear Tight Panty). It poked fun at the establishment and a few celebrities of the time and was way ahead of Ali-G, in terms of satirising the Black community.

The book will also feature reprints of some of the best comic strips from the rare, hard-to-get issues of Skank Magazine and is available on Amazon now.
