Raising Awareness of Abused Black Bodies - Topher Campbell, Radical Black Artist to Walk Naked Through NYC

“My naked waking is inspired by the work of American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat who portrayed black people in all our beautiful, complex, humorous, and challenging ways.”

Artist Topher Campbell plans to walk naked through the streets of NYC and make a short 20 minute silent filmd to raise awareness of Black men and women being wrongly stereotyped, imprisoned, and killed in the US, UK, and across the world.

He is raising money through Inidigogo and plans to show the film at The Barbican in January 2018 as part of a series of events inspired by the current Basquiat Exhibition - Boom For Real.

"A film and performance dedicated to the men and women suffocated, humiliated and shot by police in the US and UK. Inspired by the Jean Micheal Basquiat and Black Live Matter. I will walk naked in the streets of New York naked where Basquiat wrote all of his SAMO (same old shit) graffiti. My walk will be filmed and edited into a 20 minute silent film. The film will be screened at the Barbican Centre London as part of BOOM FOR REAL."
